Below are add-ons that are helpful for narrow aisle forklifts:
Side shift: Side shift is an option that permits the movement of the load laterally without having to move the unit. This allows loads to be accurately placed.
Tilt mast: The optional tilt mast enables the forks to shift both forwards and backwards. This is perfect in situations where loads aren't entirely level. To gain more stability when moving a loaded truck, the mast can be tilted backwards.
Extendable forks: Extendable forks help the reach of a lift truck to allow for the stacking of pallets one in front of the other. This is known as double deep loading.
Operator platforms: Some NA forklifts have operator platforms which could lower and raise the operator while at the same time lowering and raising the forklifts forks. This provides optimum control and visibility when handling loads at heights of 6 to 9 meters.
Forklift on a Ramp
Operators need to be well taught and should be assessed and licensed. It is essential for anyone operating a forklift to be knowledgeable about safety guidelines and issues. Drivers must understand how to adjust in situations where the load weight changes the center of gravity or on uneven surfaces. Safety measures cover the safe use of a forklift on a ramp, that is always occurring because the driver will usually need to drive down and up ramps to load and unload containers.
Guidelines for Utilizing a Forklift on a Ramp
1 Drive slowly while approaching a ramp and while driving up and down the ramp. The possibility of mishaps is higher while driving fast since this can upset the equipment's center of gravity.
2 Drive the forklift in reverse when moving up an incline on a ramp when not carrying a load.
3 Drive forward while moving down an incline on the ramp with no load.
4 While moving up or down a ramp while carrying a load, tilt the forks back a little to shift the load's center nearer the front of the equipment.
5 In order to make the load more stable, drive forward up a ramp when carrying a load.
