Propane cylinders are designed to take up really little space and can be kept inside the storage area or in an outdoor facility. It does take some time to switch out a propane cylinder, though, it still does need knowledge of safety standards such as the OSHA or Occupational Health and Safety Administration and also requires operator training in order to be conducted safely.
IC lift trucks are faster and easier to refuel, compared to electric trucks, but the internal combustion or IC engines produce major air-polluting emissions and are very noisy.
NARROW-AISLE FORKLIFTS
The Class 2 forklifts consists of many types of forklift which are specifically designed to be used in narrow aisles. The standard storage aisles are 12 feet wide, and this easily allows a counterbalanced lift truck to turn in the aisle and put a load away. Normally, narrow aisles are 8 feet wide, while the very narrow aisles are about 5.5 to 6 feet wide. These narrow aisles need specialized forklifts that can put away loads without any turning at all or that are small enough to turn on a tight radius.
The three most common narrow aisle forklifts are the reach trucks, turret trucks and order pickers. The differences amongst these forklifts are discussed below.
Narrow-Aisle Reach Trucks
The conventional reach truck is the original narrow-aisle forklift and these machinery do not need a counterweight. They are also small enough to turn around in narrow aisles. Instead, stability is provided by the outrigger arms which extend in front of the trucks. Nonetheless, depending on the storage configuration, these outrigger arms could prevent the lift trucks from getting near enough to the storage rack to deposit and retrieve cargo. In order to overcome this specific situation, a pantograph was designed. The pantograph is a reach truck which is made with a telescoping device. This allows forks to reach into storage locations concisely and easily.
The best environment for narrow aisle lift trucks is a place that has clean floors, good lighting and well maintained floor, good traffic flow, as well as sufficient turning space.
These machinery have revolutionized the material handling industry. Toyota stands behind their commitment to offering exceptional quality and very strong machinery. As the company changes, they continually strive to implement solutions so as to provide their diverse client base with the best available products.
