Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on a straight, extendable arm that is located on a rotating turntable. Normally, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for tasks that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. Like for example, workers could carry out exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts rather than having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold a single person. These buckets are better suited to specific tasks like electrical repair, rather than general maintenance or window washing. These lifts come in electric and gas configurations and are available with both outdoor and indoor tires.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces beneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Because these equipment must be positioned directly below the work site, compared to boom lifts, these units are way more limited in their use.
The scissor lift normally has a larger platform which enables the operator to control the lift to access a bigger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of machinery, since they must sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being utilized for cladding or window installation, because they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
Boom trucks, bucket trucks and cherry pickers each refer to the class a type of utility vehicle used particularly for vertical work. Usually, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee could stand along with a winch for lifting and an actuator arm for lifting the boom.
Cherry pickers could lift personnel up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy materials and equipment for one location to another. There are a variety of different crane types which can carry out various purposes. Both of these different kinds of machinery excel at various jobs and are suitable for particular applications and finishing particular jobs.
