Reach Truck
In order to keep storage areas tidy and to pile up supplies and pallets of goods, a reach truck can be utilized. The reach truck is available in several kinds: the stand-up reach, double-deep reach and straddle reach.
The stand-up is the most basic. The forks of the truck slide under the pallet and move it to the right storage place. The forks slide the pallet into place. This kind of reach truck is recommended when shelving units are only one pallet in depth.
Ideal for workplaces where the shelving units are deep enough to have two pallets of goods, the double-deep reach truck, which is like the stand-up, is usually used. This particular version has telescopic forks designed to place the pallet at the rear of the shelving unit. This saves having to push the pallet back when one more pallet must go into the same shelving section.
The added advantage of straddle reaches is that they could both slide under the pallet and grasp the sides as well. These are suitable for workplaces where shelving units are accessible in multiple directions. This version is best in conditions where goods would not be damaged if the sides of the pallet are grabbed.
Inside nearly all warehouses, there are usually more than one kind of reach truck. Manufacturing facilities and textile firms utilize different types of reach trucks in their supply areas. The reach truck is not hard to use and can increase productivity while making the most of available storage space.
