How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while attempting to perform tasks that could have otherwise needed working off the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific machine make it the best choice for performing tasks from heights.
Nearly all scissor lifts are operated by batteries which are internally mounted inside the lift's base. These batteries need to be charged after a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any specialized equipment or tools and requires no heavy labor.
In order to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the control box or the charger, inside the lift basket. Find the battery charger on the right side of the base of the lift. Often, units that are older would have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and next plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any extra length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger can potentially happen.
