Forklift Engine - the lift truck is designed with a power source at the rear of the machine. Different kinds of lift trucks have different kinds of engine which need varying power sources. For example, a lift truck with an IC engine can have any of the following as its power source: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor lift trucks receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Truck Frame - The frame of the truck is the base of the forklift and the most vital of all the lift truck components. This forms the core of the equipment. All other parts of a lift truck are connected to the base, like for example the counterweight, overhead guard, wheels, axles and mast. Hydraulic fluid and fuel tanks may also be part of the frame assembly.
Counterweight Lift Truck Components - While lifting heavy cargo, the counterweight enables the equipment to be balanced. This specific part is cast iron and comes attached to the back of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the truck frame so as to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric forklift provides balance and can work as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - this area is where the operator sits and drives the machinery. Some forklifts have a cab area which is open to the air and several have closed cabs. There are numerous parts situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential parts like the pedals, seats, levers, switches, operator controls and steering wheel.
