What is the Difference between Cushion Tire and Pneumatic Tire?
Among the most common questions about this type of machinery is determining the difference between pneumatic tire forklifts and cushion tire forklifts. Each type of tire is particularly suited for various requirements.
Like vehicle tires, pneumatic tires have air inside of them. These types of tires are ideal for indoor application but they are most effective in outdoor "yard" applications and on gravel and uneven surfaces.
Cushion tires are designed as a solid industrial tire that is used mainly for indoor operation. These tires are able to be utilized outdoors on just asphalt surfaces. If you do drive cushion tires outdoors, there is an alternative to get traction tires on the front of the equipment. These are called the drive tires. The back tires or the steer tires are particularly made for steering. Traction tires located on the rear of the forklift will just wear out faster. Thus, if you do have to work outside, having the smooth tires on the back and traction on the front will be the most economical and safest way to operate.
What is the distinction between Air Pneumatic and Solid Pneumatic tires?
It could be fairly tricky when trying to determine the main distinction between the two tire types. They would operate well in both in asphalt and gravel situations. The main difference between the two tire types is solid pneumatics are made of solid rubber. This means you cannot gouge, puncture and pop them as they are strong. These tires are more expensive compared to air pneumatic tires because they are made up of way more rubber. These tires are best suited for places like lumber yards and scrap yards where there may be plenty of debris or sharp objects on the ground.
Air pneumatic tires could be punctured accidentally. When this happens, you could get flat tires from them. Prior to operating a forklift with air pneumatic tires, inspect your work space and be sure that the yard is free of sharp metals, nails and scrap debris. In most applications, standard air pneumatic tires function really great.
